SawalNama ("we", "our") is an educational platform where teachers create curriculum-aligned assessments and students practise. This policy explains what information the SawalNama app and website collect and how it is used.

Information we collect

When you create an account we collect your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). To personalise the app you provide your academic selections — country, education board, class and subjects. As you use SawalNama we store the content you create (papers, worksheets, questions) and, for students, practice activity (questions attempted, answers, scores and progress) so the app can show your progress and recommend what to practise. We keep standard technical logs (device sessions, timestamps, IP addresses) for security.

What we do NOT collect

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. SawalNama shows no third-party advertising and sells no personal data to anyone.

AI processing

SawalNama generates questions, explanations and feedback using artificial intelligence. When a written practice answer is evaluated, the answer text is processed by our AI provider (Google's Gemini API) solely to produce feedback. Prompts do not include your name or email. AI-estimated scores are always labeled as such in the app.

How your information is used

Only to operate SawalNama: signing you in, personalising content to your board and class, generating and storing your papers and practice history, enforcing fair-use limits, keeping the service secure, and communicating with you about your account. We share personal data with no third parties except the service providers that host and power SawalNama (server hosting and the AI provider named above), each processing data only on our instructions.

Students and children

SawalNama is used by school students. We collect only the minimum needed to provide the service, show no advertising, and never use student data for profiling beyond the learning progress features visible to the student. Where a school manages student accounts, the school is responsible for obtaining any consent required from parents or guardians.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account). Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account, personal details, papers and practice history are removed. Backup copies expire automatically within 14 days. You may also request deletion or a copy of your data by email.

Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed with a modern algorithm and are never stored or logged in plain text. Access to production systems is restricted.

Changes

We will update this page when the policy changes and note the date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
